The Active Communities Initiative provides funding to support the development and enhancement of public-use community sport and recreation facilities across Alberta. The program aims to increase opportunities for sport, physical activity, and recreation by supporting projects that retrofit, renew, expand, or build new small to medium-sized facilities. Eligible applicants, including First Nations, Metis Settlements, and registered non-profit organizations, can receive financial assistance to improve community access to active living.
