The Ministry of Mines provides project grant funding through the Aboriginal Participation Fund to support Indigenous traditional knowledge preservation and environmental mapping across Ontario. The program assists First Nation and Métis communities in documenting cultural heritage sites, ecological values, and traditional land-use patterns to inform resource planning. Eligible Indigenous communities receive grant contributions of up to $50,000 CAD to complete research and GIS mapping projects.
